Guests attending the event included: Zhu Andong, Dean and Professor of the School of Marxism of Tsinghua University, Zhu Wuxiang, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, and Director of the Research Center for Business Model Innovation Research of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, Chen Yanshun, Chairman of BOE Technology Group, and Wang Yue, Chairman of Lianjie Innovation

(Speech By Zhu Andong)

Zhu Andong pointed out in his opening speech that we are currently in a critical stage of major changes in the world and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and the construction of an enterprise business ecosystem is crucial. Integrating the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan, he emphasized that building a multi-level and sustainable business ecosystem serves as a crucial pathway for advancing industrial upgrading and fostering new productive forces. He also noted that the construction of enterprise ecosystems is a vivid practice of adjusting production relations driven by the development of modern productive forces.

(Speech by Zhu Wuxiang)

Zhu Wuxiang delivered a special presentation titled "Business Model Innovation and Enterprise Ecological Expansion". expounded his unique insights into business models in a simple and straightforward manner, defining them as the integration of two core dimensions: "operating activity system" and "transaction structure". He emphasized that business model design is like solving an engineering problem, which requires seeking the optimal solution under given constraints. Specifically, it is divided into three levels: the operational design level, the division of labor level, and the transaction structure level. He pointed out that building a robust enterprise ecosystem requires two key features: "macro perspective" and "micro structure". A macro perspective demands that enterprises transcend their own boundaries to seek trading partners in a broader scope; a micro structure requires an in-depth analysis of every business operation to identify possibilities for differentiation and transactions. Therefore, the construction of an enterprise ecosystem is not an abstract concept but is reflected in every specific and optimized transaction design.

(Speech by Chen Yanshun)

Chen Yanshun shared the company’s 30-year journey of strategic upgrading and enterprise ecosystem construction. He summarized the development of BOE into three "30-year phases": the "Industrial Light" phase laid the spiritual cornerstone of serving the country through industry; the "Path of Ideals" phase achieved the leap from catching up to leading in the display sector through mergers, acquisitions and innovation; Currently in the "Blue Voyage" phase, facing the industry ceiling, the company has established the "Display of Things" development strategy. Based on an in-depth summary of industrial laws and BOE’s own development experience, it has innovatively proposed the strategic upgrading theory of the "Nth Curve". Drawing on BOE’s long-term development practices, he concluded with three core insights that offer valuable references for the growth of technology enterprises: first, ensure the forward-looking nature of strategies and the resoluteness in their execution; second, establish management processes and a talent pool of executives that match the enterprise’s development needs; third, build core values that underpin the sustainable development of the enterprise.

In the panel discussion session, all the guests conducted in-depth discussions on certain issues concerning enterprise ecosystem construction. Zhu Wuxiang pointed out that risks in ecosystem construction should not be evaded; instead, they should be managed through sophisticated business model design. The key lies in identifying specific risks (such as technological, market and investment risks) and achieving risk sharing, diversification and mitigation by selecting suitable partners, designing sound transaction structures (e.g., leveraging the principles of financial instruments like convertible bonds) and conducting phased testing and verification. In this way, enterprises can "take on major risks while keeping minor risks manageable".

(Panel Discussion session)

Chen Yanshun shared BOE’s three-character strategy – Chuang (Create), He (Collaborate), Gen (Follow) – for addressing technological uncertainties and business operation risks in the process of enterprise ecosystem construction. "Chuang (Create)" means conducting forward-looking tracking and research on various display technologies; "He (Collaborate)" refers to carrying out in-depth cooperation with domestic and foreign material and equipment suppliers to avoid internal strife, ensure supply chain stability and sustain technological progress; "Gen (Follow)" involves investing in and incubating cutting-edge technologies via innovation investment funds to diversify risks and capture opportunities.

Chairman Wang Yue combined his own investment and research experience to emphasize the importance of methodological precipitation. He believes that the continuous success of BOE and other enterprises is supported by a strong methodological system, and further dialogue and exchange with Chairman Chen Yanshun on how to better unite global scientists and entrepreneurs.

Through in-depth dialogue between academia and industry, this event delved into the construction of enterprise ecosystems from multiple dimensions such as macro-strategy, micro-model, corporate practice and investment perspective. The exchange conference not only deepened the understanding of the significance, pathways and challenges of ecosystem construction, but also emphasized the core value of open collaboration, continuous innovation and resilient development for cultivating future industrial competitiveness. It provided participants with valuable insights and practical references on how enterprises can build a healthy and resilient ecosystem amid a complex and volatile environment.
