Introduction for Tsinghua University Student Insurance and Actuarial Association

Founded in 2014, the Tsinghua University Student Insurance and Actuarial Association is a dynamic and proactive student organization. The association currently has over 50 members, including undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students spanning disciplines such as finance, mathematics, and public administration. This diverse and interactive community serves as a vibrant platform for learning and exchange.
The development of human civilization has always been accompanied by risks. Our association focuses on a wide range of risk-related topics, including natural risks, social risks, and emerging risks brought about by technological advancements. We are committed to exploring systematic solutions represented by insurance and actuarial science. Students from all backgrounds who are interested in risk-related topics are welcome to join. We also encourage new members to actively participate in organizational management, taking on core roles such as president or vice president, to leverage their strengths and grow together.
In recent years, the association’s activities have been divided into two main categories:
(1) Academic Seminars: We collaborate with peer institutions such as Peking University and Renmin University of China to co-host the "Risk, Insurance, and the Economics of Uncertainty" lecture series. These events feature renowned scholars and industry experts from China and abroad, who share insights on cutting-edge topics such as insurance economics, risk management, and pension systems. These discussions help students broaden their international perspectives and deepen their professional knowledge. Additionally, the association actively participates in research projects led by the China Center for Insurance and Risk Management at Tsinghua University, including studies like the China Retirement Readiness Indexand How the Chinese Insurance Industry Supports the Construction of a National Strategic Ecosystem. These initiatives enhance members’ research capabilities and teamwork skills.
(2) Practical Exchange Activities: The association assists the Society of Actuaries in organizing regular online campus events, covering topics such as actuarial exam planning, career path advice, and industry trends. These activities provide practical information for students aspiring to pursue careers in actuarial science. We also invite industry experts to deliver special lectures and organize field visits to local government agencies, insurance companies, and insurance museums, giving students a hands-on understanding of insurance practices.
Looking ahead, we plan to explore more diverse activities and innovative formats. Everyone interested in risk-related topics is welcome to join us!
